Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® Credit Card

A few weekends ago, waiting to board our flight to Seattle, I overheard credit card presentation from an Alaska Airlines representative to one of our fellow travelers going to Seattle. What caught my interest was the lack of minimum spend required.

If you are not familiar with minimum spend, basically it is the required minimum purchase you need to make on a new credit card the first three months to earn the bonus points offered on the credit card. Required minimum spends can often be a deterrent to getting a new card, especially when you are working on a couple of credit card minimum spends already as I am. The other win, in my opinion, is the “Coach Companion Fare” offered every year for just $121(USD) ($99, plus taxes and fees from $22). You only get one a year but that can be a significant savings on a vacation for two!

Doing a quick check on flights going from Sacramento (SMF) to Miami, FL (MIA) this weekend, it cost from $557 to $1206 one way, which could mean a $450 savings using that Coach Companion Fare! What will 25,000 bonus miles get you? A round trip from Sacramento (SMF) to Miami, FL (MIA) via coach – not to bad!

A couple other reasons I choose to get this card:

  • Free Checked Bag benefit
  • $50 Airport Lounge Discount for Visa Signature® accounts.
  • $50 Annual Airfare Discount for Platinum Plus® Visa® accounts.
  • Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Enrollment.

Please do your own research before deciding if this credit card offer is a good match for you.

Note: there is a $75 annual fee on the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card.
